Carnikava hosts Legend Rogaining for the first time in mid-August
For the first time, the popular team orienteering competition “Leģendu rogainings” will visit Carnikava, where “Carnikavas leģendu rogainings” will be held a week before the famous lantern festival, or on August 17, organized by the Association of Adventure Competitions with the support of the municipality of Ādaži region.

The organizers offer the usual team distances to the participants according to their abilities and wishes - 6h Garmin and 4h Isostar, but the others will be with other sponsors - 2h TVNET+ rogaining distance, 2h Magnesia rogaining race and 3h Gerble MTB distance. This year, an innovation has been introduced - the TVNET+ Enterprise Challenge Award, the purpose of which is to determine the best enterprise teams in rogaining, to promote the collective cohesion, endurance and mutual cooperation of enterprises. There will also be “Leģendu klubu balva” with a very good reward at the end of the season.
“Carnikavas leģendu rogainingā” lovers of an active and sporty lifestyle, who like to spend their free time in the fresh air and be active, as well as families, are invited to participate, as rogaining is a very democratic activity in its essence, as participants can choose the distance and number of checkpoints suitable for their abilities.
The chronicler Indrikis has already written about the fishermen of the Gauja mouth. Lamprey fishing was an important source of income for the Carnikava manor. The Tsarina Katrīna Liel was honored with them, they were sold both in Warsaw and Berlin. Kolkhoz "Carnikava" raised babies and produced canned lampreys in the workshop. Mūsdienās Carnikavas lampreys are included in the Register of Protected Geographical Indications of the European Union (along with champagne and Roquefortsier), but every year in August, Carnikava invites you to the Festival of Lamps.
The competition center will be located on Gauja beach at Atpūtas street in Carnikava. The area will wind from Ādaži to Lilasti with Carnikava, Dzirnezeru and the Gauja river in the middle, as well as past Laveri, Siguli, where one of the most prominent Latvian poets rests Ojārs Vācietis Staprini, Birznieki, Divzeri and Adaži airfield.
Although it is not Latgale or Finland, this stage can also be called rogaining of lakes, because there will be no shortage of such bodies of water in this Legends rogaining. In addition to the mentioned five-island Dzirnezer, on the other side of the VIA Baltica highway, there is also the fish-rich Lilaste lake and the largest of the lakes in this area, the depth of which does not exceed 3m - Dūňezer. Two small ones - Lake Laveru and Ummis, as well as Garezer - remain directly behind the territory. However, you will have to wade across the Serģi swamp, which has nothing to do with the five-time world champion in motorsport.
