On Saturday, June 5, Olaine rogaining took place in Olaine for the fifth year in a row. Due to the existing Covid-19 restrictions in the country, this year the event took place in a training format. Despite this, more than 500 lovers of active recreation - both local orienteering and cycling activists, as well as city guests from all over Latvia - signed up for the training throughout the day.

The team Onkuļi with Eināru Masteiko and Jāni Visķeri collected the most points in the Garmin 6h distance. Right behind them, or 4 points less, was the team “Krūšu inspekcija” with Miķeli Zumbergu and Gunti Šmauksteli in the team. Third place went to team “Bez stresa” with Viesturu Šlosbergu and Renāru Skudru on the team.

In the Isostar 4h distance, the biggest scorers were “Riga adventure team” with Jānis ijemera and Valdi Čunku in the team, leaving behind the “B3/Bez kompasa” runners Ievu Godiņu and Aigu Kalniņu, who took second place and “Maldugunij pa pēdām” with Edgaru Zaķi and Māru Braslavu in the team – the third.

In the shortest distance of Magnesia 2h, the team “Isostar” with Guntaru Mankus and Iritu Puķīti collected the most points by a wide margin. Team “Saulkrasti Showel Racing Team” with Eduardu Pāķi and Sniedzi Brakovsku was second and team “Begemots un kaķis” with Brits - Kalvi and Lilija was third.

In the individual running distances in O-Run, the three highest scorers are Gints Poris, Normunds Grava and Edgars Rancāns. Among the women, Anita Užule collected the most points in the 14km distance as third, while in the bicycle MTB-O distance – Mārtiņš Linde, Mārtiņš Godiņs and Eduards Rēns as third. Among women, Inese Kauķe collected the most points.

This year, the start of the competition was given at Mezezera, which gave the participants the opportunity to go to unprecedented areas and explore the historical Olaines Plakanu battle sites. Participants with a map specially prepared for this event could visit the labyrinths of the trenches of the Battles of Plakani and Veis (in the north - Russian and Latvian riflemen, and in the south - German positions). In total, the participants had the opportunity to visit 50 checkpoints in nature.

Already on July 24, all rogaining and orienteering enthusiasts are invited to join the rogaining of the Riga Mazjumprava manor, which is the second stage of the rogaining series “Pilsētas leģendas”. Still this year, the stages within the series will take place in Valmiera on August 7, Ķekava on September 25 and the final stage again in Riga on October 23.

Rogaining is an orienteering event where teams of 2 to 4 members visit checkpoints located in nature at a selected checkpoint time
