Popular Riga Rogaining returns on 21 March at Spice shopping centre
The most visited rogaining competition in Latvia and the Baltics, “Rīgas rogainings”, will start on March 21 at t/c “Spice”, where runners and checkpoint seekers from Latvia and other countries will orient themselves in the Isostar 2-hour, Spice 4-hour or Garmin 6-hour distances in the city area. The organizers especially invite children with their families to participate in the exciting free rogaining walk with instructors or to try their hand at one of the Family groups, as well as runners who are offered a 14km distance through the indicated checkpoints.

Absolutely everyone is invited to join the spring rogaining – sportsmen and orienteering enthusiasts who are already masters of this competition and whose core consists mainly of orienteers, as well as lovers of an active lifestyle and also simply active people who like to spend their free time in the fresh air and be active. Rogaining is essentially a very democratic exercise in which anyone can try themselves, because, firstly, the participants can choose a distance suitable for their abilities and, secondly, it is possible to accumulate as many checkpoints in the distance as they consider necessary.
"This year's rogaining will be the most swampy in the history of Riga, which will also cover Bieriņi and Medema marshes with many beautiful marsh lakes. If you carefully read the surmountable and impassable ditches marked on the map, you will not sink. The most careful may even get through with dry feet, but it depends on the rainfall in the following weeks. The distance is also planned from Torņkalns to Tīraini, from Dzintari (those in Mārupe) to Stūnīši. In the middle of it, the participants will have the opportunity to explore where Mārupīte begins and see what grows in Akmensdārz. If someone has buns with them, they will be able to have a meal while watching the planes land or take off," said the author and planner of the distance Reinis Bērziņš.
This year, Riga Rogaining is included in the rogaining series “Pilsētas leģendas”, which will take place in 6 stages in different cities and regions, forming the overall ranking of the competition. Some of the stages will also have a 3h MTB distance for those who like cycling more than running. Registration for the competition is available on the website www.rogainings.lv
