SATURDAY WILL BE A BEAUTIFUL DAY!
Location of the competition center: HERE!
On Saturday at t/c Alfa, Brīvības gatve 372, every participant and fan is welcome to participate in the first Riga Rogaining! Reception and check-out will be open from 10:30 a.m. At the reception, each team must submit a “Atbildības anketa” signed by all team members, which we will send to e-mails. To speed up registration, you can scan or take a photo of it and send it to e-mail xrace@xrace.lv. This means you won't have to stand in lines!
At the reception, each team will receive a SPORTident chip or SI card, which can be used at checkpoints, and a wristband for each participant. The chip must be wrapped around the arm with the help of a wristband before the start. The chip may only be removed by the race judge at the finish (this is the only way we will know that you were in the distance). at At 11:30, the team representative will be able to go to receive the race maps and start planning the route with the team, which you will follow during the selected time limit. Each participant has one card. Starting from At 11:45, the teams will be allowed to go to the start corridor, where everyone will check their wristbands and SI cards, and at the entrance it will be mandatory to check in at the START checkpoint, which will activate the SI card. Without this mark, no checkpoint visited in the distance will be counted.
The start will be given at 12:00, when you can go the distance with the team. When finding a checkpoint, all team members must mark the checkpoint. The team must mark itself at the finish checkpoint by the end of the time limit of the selected distance. Checkpoints visited after the end of the time limit will not be counted. For each minute delayed after the time limit, 1 point will be deducted from the number of points collected. If the team is more than 30 minutes late, no points will be awarded. At the finish, the team must hand over the SI cards and other rented equipment, if any, to the judge. The results will be visible to the teams electronically on the screens. After the finish, lunch is provided for each participant - pilaf or soup, as well as warm tea.
We invite you to stay for the award ceremony, during which we will draw prizes from the sponsor GARMIN - one prize will be drawn among the participants of each distance.

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT
Taking into account the weather forecast, we expect dry but cool weather, so we recommend that you think about warm sports clothes, a hat, gloves and comfortable shoes in which you can walk both in the city and in the forest. Mandatory equipment for each team is a mobile phone, which may only be used in emergency situations. Participants of the six-hour distance must have a headlamp and a reflector, as the final part of the distance will be in the dark.
Recommended distance equipment for all teams is a distance planning marker to mark the team's route, a compass with degree divisions, ruler, watch, energy food and drink.
STORAGE STORAGE
Before the start, you will have the opportunity to leave your belongings in the storage room. You must put your belongings in your bag or bag. After the finish, it will be possible to get them back by presenting the race number.
SAFETY AND TRAFFIC
Since road traffic in the city of Riga is not closed during the competition, all participants are obliged to follow the rules of the road during the competition, to be especially careful when crossing the streets, at traffic lights. For the participants of the six-hour distance, a reflector and a headlamp or a flashlight are mandatory equipment, as it will be dark at the end of the distance.
AREA
The area chosen for the Riga Rogaining is unique for orienteering competitions - for the first time, the multi-hour competition will take place in the city, including both built-up areas and forests surrounded by the city. The competition area includes places popular with those who want to exercise, such as Mežapark, Biķernieki forest and Shmerli, as well as the forest around Bābelīša lake, the mysterious surroundings of the southern shore of Lake Ķīšezer, and the Jugla forest and the western shore of Jugla lake, which are not part of the daily routes. These forests, as well as residential areas - Mežaparks, Čiekurkalns, Teika, Jugla and Mežciems - hide many interesting and uniquely beautiful places, the existence of which many people living in these areas for a long time have no idea. We will try to show you at least some of these places.
RACE MAP AND MARKS
The unique competition format also requires a unique map building technique. In order to optimally represent both forests and parts of the city on one map, the competition map will have two types of representation of the surroundings. In the wooded parts of the area, you will use a simplified orientation map, as it is customary to use in rogaining competitions - the biggest roads and the most distinct trails are marked, the forest is shown in white, and the open areas are shown in yellow. The brown lines represent small hills in the forests of Riga, but there are many of them. Laser scanning data is used to represent the terrain. Prohibited areas are colored olive green and crossed out with red crosses - you must not cross them. The second type of map that will be found in the race maps will be a map produced by map publisher "Jāņa sēta", which shows detailed streets and houses. You will use this map when moving around the built-up area.
For those who are not familiar with orientation symbols, the explanation that purple circles are checkpoints will be useful. The checkpoint itself can be found in nature in the center of the circle. The start is marked with a purple triangle, while the finish is marked with two purple concentric circles. A checkpoint number will be written at each point - a two-digit number, the first digit of which means the value of the point. Point values will be from 2-6.

The cards will be moisture resistant, but each participant is responsible for keeping the card in wet conditions. Map scale: 1:20,000 or 1 centimeter on a map is equal to 200 meters in nature; card size: 42 x 62 cm. Map author and distance planner - Jānis Tamužs.
REGISTRATION AND DISTANCE PLANNING
In order to receive a number and the necessary equipment for the competition, each team must arrive at the competition center starting at 10:30 and bring a completed and signed Liability Form by all team members, but whose team is not allowed to start. Participants who are under the age of 18 and competing in a team that does not include an adult must submit a written permission from their parents or guardians to participate in the competition at the reception desk. at At 11:30 the teams can receive their maps and start planning the distance. There will be a place under the canopy for planning, you can also plan in your cars or in the shopping center “Alfa”.
START
at At 11:55, all participants must be in the starting corridor, where entry will be monitored by competition judges, who will check whether a bracelet with a SPORTident chip is attached to each participant's arm. After checking the chip in the start corridor, each participant will have to mark "START” at the station that will register the participant's entry into the starting area. Participants whose SI card will not have “START” station marks, no distance points will be counted.
DRINKS AND FOOD
During the distance, there will be an opportunity to stop at one watering point, which will be located in the start/finish area. Water and sports drink will be available at the hearing point. Every participant will receive a Vichy drink after the finish and, upon presentation of a meal voucher, will be served lunch - pilaf or vegetarian soup. Hot tea will be available.
TRANSFER OF EQUIPMENT
All participants are given SPORTident chips by the organizers for the duration of the competition, which can be used at checkpoints. The chips must be attached with a wristband before the start, but at the finish they must be handed over to the finish judge, who is the only person who has the right to remove the chip and the wristband from the hand. Participants and teams renting compasses and GPS are obliged to immediately hand over the rented equipment to the finish judge at the finish line. Failure to hand over the SPORTident, compass or GPS will result in a fine in accordance with the regulations. It is not allowed to start with personal SPORTident chips.
AWARDS
In the two- and four-hour distances, teams are not divided by age groups, and all teams start Open or in open groups, excluding family teams. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in men's, women's, mixed and family groups. In the six-hour distance, teams are divided into junior, open, veteran, super-veteran and family groups, but, as an exception to the rogaining rules, teams will be judged and awarded only within their age groups, so neither junior, veteran, nor super-veteran teams compete or receive awards Open within the group.
We wish all participants of Riga Rogaining on November 29 to have fun searching and finding checkpoints!
