Already next week, a thousand checkpoint seekers will gather at the shopping center “Atrium Azur”, because the orienteering competition “Rīgas pavasara rogainings” will take place on March 26. Teams of participants from five countries - Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Russia and Latvia - will take part in the event.

You can register for the competition until March 24 on the website www.rigasrogainings.lv. Participants have access to 3 different time limits of 2 hours, 4 hours and 6 hours, and for the first time participants will have access to an already planned route of approximately 10-15 kilometers, suitable for runners without orientation skills. The route will lead through the streets of the city and will be easily covered in 2 hours.
Different distances are available to the participants, from which they can choose the most suitable one - a 2-hour time trial is suitable for families with children, supporters of short distances, as well as those who like short walks in the fresh air, a 4-hour time trial is intended for more resistant participants and companies who want to spend a sporty afternoon in nature with friends or family, while enjoying the city of Riga and nature in one event, but the 6-hour time trial will be as it was created for hardy and experienced athletes to enjoy the surroundings of Riga both by light and in the darkness of the evening.
A walk with orienteering instructors - Bear, Squirrel and Hare - is also planned for children, who will lead the children on a 2-hour long Rogaining walk with games and a search for sweets. Registration for the Rogaining walk is free of charge for children under 12 years of age. After the finish, each participant will receive a special Riga Rogaining medal, warm tea and soup.
"Rogaining is one of the most accessible forms of entertainment for lovers of activities, because there is no specific distance that should be overcome. Each team decides how much they want to run or walk, plans a route, but at the finish, regardless of the result, they get exactly the same as all the other teams - a medal, a warm lunch, as well as great emotions and memories," say the organizers of the event. "Moms with babies who are not even a year old take part in the competition, as well as participants who have already reached the age of more than 80, which proves that rogaining really is an event for everyone."
The competition is offered by the Riga City Council and the Education, Culture and Sports Department of the Riga City Council. Atbalsta Isostar, Garmin, Asics, Shopping Center “Atrium Azur”, xRoom.
